Reframe Your Mindset
Raise your hand if you have ever felt the urge to throw everything out in your home, and replace with lower toxic items immediately? Me, I’m raising my hand. But...please don’t. It’s expensive, wasteful, and causes unnecessary stress - the most toxic thing of all.
FIRST, make a list of what you own that doesn’t “run out.”
Things like cooking and bakeware, tupperware, water bottles, and the like. Then prioritize switching ONE thing a month, or even every other month if budget is tight.
Second, use up what you have, then make the switch.
For things that run out and need to be rebought anyways, use up what you have (yes, even if it’s fragrance and dye filled laundry detergent), and THEN replace. I promise you, it’s going to be okay. More than okay!
Start with PLASTIC that food sits in and/or is heated
Consider stainless steel, glass, cast iron, or high quality wood
FIRST PRIORITY
since food either sits in this for long periods or is heated
tupperware
water bottles
cutting boards (stainless, glass, or WOOD are great options)
pots and pans
baking dishes (muffin tins, baking sheets/dishes, etc)
coffee pods
baby bottles
SECOND PRIORITY
cups
plates / bowls
eating utensils
mixing bowls
cooking utensils
measuring cups / spoons
aluminum foil / plastic wrap
sandwich / plastic bags
...then use up what have, and slowly replace.
Prioritize LEAVE ON products, then move onto wash off products.
FIRST PRIORITY
skincare: moisturizer, serums
makeup
body lotion
deodorant
sunscreen
bug spray
menstrual products
toothpaste
diaper cream
diapers
formula
food/snacks
SECOND PRIORITY
shampoo
conditioner
body wash
shaving cream
dry shampoo
hair spray
styling spray
detangler
hand soap
face wash
makeup remover
baby wipes
Lastly, move onto “luxuries."
What are things you don’t NEED? Save these for last. Things like...
candles / home scents
perfume
self tanner
nail polish
