My Parasite Story

I feel like I share tid bits of this story frequently with people, so thought it was about time I wrote the whole thing down.

Back in 2016 I started having really bizarre symptoms. First, excruciating lower back pain - to the point where I would be driving and would sometimes have to pull over to the side of the road to get out and walk around/stretch. Or would be grocery shopping and would literally walk around bent halfway over, because that's the only thing that would bring a tiny bit of comfort. Then I started to get these waves where I would randomly get FREEZING, would take a bath or shower to warm up, overheat, and then would throw up. I was also having tremendous anxiety, and lost a ton of weight.

No Medical Providers Could Help Me

The first provider I saw was a very conventional chiropractor. He adjusted me, gave me a back brace, TENS machine, and inserts for my shoes. It did absolutely nothing.

Then I started to see a few medical providers (MDs and FNPs). Nobody could figure anything out. At one point one of the doctors said I most likely just have an anxiety disorder and wanted to prescribe be medication. I knew deep down this wasn't the case, and refused.

Around the same time my husband was having weird stomach problems (not related - he ended up having H. Plyori AND SIBO...we are just a hot mess of a family haha). He also had seen multiple medical providers, who weren't able to help at all. The same one who "diagnosed" me with an anxiety disorder told him she's pretty confident he has cancer and needs to get an endoscopy/colonoscopy. Spoiler alert: he did NOT have cancer...

Enter...Our "Woo Woo" Chiropractor

Anyways, my personal trainer who also struggles with some stomach issues recommended he go see her chiropractor. She claimed he was the only provider that's truly been able to help her, so he went and I tagged along.

This chiropractor was definitely on the more, as some people might call it, "woo woo, quacky side." He combines traditional chiropractic work with muscle testing and NET (Neuro Emotional Technique)...but he changed our life. I will forever now stand up on the side of chiropractors (well some of them...there are some true quacks out there, just like in any field).

Anyways, I'm not kidding you when I say within MINUTES we were already getting answers for my husband. I was blown away. I briefly brought up my symptoms and he said, "I definitely think I can help." So, I made an appointment.

When my appointment finally came he, of course, adjusted me, but he also muscle tested me. Within minutes I muscle tested positive for a parasite. I know muscle testing isn't a scientifically validated diagnosis method, but as soon as he said that I flash-backed to something I had COMPLETELY forgotten about a few years earlier...

Flash Back 3 Years

In 2013 I went on a mission trip to El Salvador. They beat it into us that it was incredibly important that we didn't drink the water there, and only the bottled water provided. I was very good about this...except the very last day. We had to get up super early for our flight, and I completely forgot...and drank the water. When I get home I got SO SICK, however things ended up getting better on their own so I just chalked It up to Montezuma's Revenge from a bacteria or virus.

Treatment and Results

I wish so bad I could remember the exact treatment protocol, and I'm so sorry that I can't. It was a long time ago. And I didn't yet have this blog at the time, so I had no need to document everything.

I do know for sure he had me taking GABA to help with the anxiety, Iodine as part of the parasite protocol, and I went in frequently for adjustments. I don't remember exactly how long it took, but all I do know is all my symptoms went away and even 10 years later have never returned.
